Spain’s Enusa wins first Contract with South Korea

[Dated: 05 Mar 2021 ]     Country : Korea, Republic Of(South Korea)

Spain’s nuclear fuel company Enusa Industrias Avanzadas had signed a supply contract with Korea Electric Power Company (Kepco) for equipment to measure the degree of burn-up in used NPP fuel elements. Enusa’s new system represents an innovative advance in the design of this type of equipment, which is lighter and more versatile. This is Enusa’s first contract with South Korea and is the result of an international tender called Kepco in October 2020.

Enusa believes this represents the beginning of a commercial relationship with South Korea as well as an opportunity for further collaboration in the management of used fuel. Development of the equipment began in 2007 and it has been used in inspection campaigns at Spanish NPPs. It will have to be adapted to the different fuel designs operating in South Korea.
