On October 30, 2025, Russia officially moved its 300 mm Sarma multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) from prototype to procurement. The Ministry of Defense ordered two divisions, each comprising six launchers and six transport loading vehicles (TLVs) mounted on KamAZ-63501 armored 8×8 trucks. Unit costs are approximately 155 million rubles per launcher and 64 million per TLV. The program emphasizes lighter, more mobile precision artillery alongside existing Tornado-S systems.
The Sarma MLRS features a six-tube launcher mounted on a KamAZ chassis with an armored cab. The system integrates an automated fire control and guidance suite, improving setup and displacement times compared to the heavier, 33-ton Tornado-S. Weight reduction of about 10 tons facilitates rapid “shoot-and-scoot” operations, ideal for contested battlefields saturated with drones and counter-battery radars.
