Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it has received a roughly 148-MW order in the US from a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Under the terms of the contract, Vestas will supply 43 units of the V126-3.45 MW turbine model for the Bearkat I wind project in Texas. Upon completion in late 2017, wind park will consist of 57 turbines with a combined capacity of 196.7 MW.
"Texas and the rest of the wind belt are traditionally 2 MW territory, but we`ve shown yet again that we can deliver a winning cost of energy in that region with both our 2 MW and 3 MW platforms and that provides tremendous flexibility and competitive advantage for our customers," said Chris Brown, president of Vestas` sales and service division in the US and Canada. The Danish company expects to start turbine deliveries in the third quarter of the year. The order also includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service agreement.
