[Dated: 30 Mar 2017 ]     Country : Norway

French cable maker Nexans it had been chosen to supply cables for the first wind farm from a 1-GW onshore project in Trondheim, Norway. Linka AS, the electrotechnical contractor for the project, has chosen Nexans` cables for the Roan Wind Farm. This is the first of six wind farms with a combined capacity of 1 GW, to be developed by Fosen Vind DA, a firm 52.1%-owned by Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS. The other two owners of Fosen Vind DA are the power company TrønderEnergi and the European investment consortium Nordic Wind Power DA. The French company will supply 200 km of its TSLF 36 kV underground cables to interlink the turbines and transmit the power to the grid. Delivery will start in April 2017 and run until March 2018, shortly before the completion of the wind farm. All six wind farms will comprise a total of 278 turbines, provided by Danish Vestas Wind Systems A/S
